The chill is gone, and avoiding the draft

The chill of dissent, and the ever present shadow of the draft, here at
Life As I Know It has ended. Just when the Democrats have taken control
of both Chambers of Congress. Is this a coincidence?

Of course it is you silly goose! Very few people alive in this great Country
of our's has experienced a true "chilling of dissent". More so have been
drafted, but let me take this opportunity to ask which political party the
President belonged to? Also, which party does the only member of
Congress currently advocating the draft belong to?

I remember back during the build up to the Gulf War, a local TV news
interview. It was not a person on the street type interview. They were in
her home. They came to her.... I repeat- home... and asked her opinion.
She believed that we should take care of our own first. In her mind, a
large number of people were starving right here in the USA. She included
herself in that group of starving people. Why spend our tax dollars when
we are in such dire straits right here. Why save "them" people in
Kuwait from the killing, raping, looting of treasure that Saddam had
unleased upon them? Simple enough for this woman to answer:

We have people starving here. We have our own problems
that need to be taken care of first.

The irony of this is that she was not starving, though she claimed to be.
It would have been a great radio interview for AirAmerica. But this was
TV. To be as gentle as possible- this woman was not lacking for food.

   So with that in mind:

Since the latest foul wind of Global Warming has swept across the land,
I have experienced a chilling of my dissent. The draft is already here at
Life As I Know it. It happened last year too. A cold chilling of Global
Warming dissent. My house is over sixty years old but has a killer heating
system. Top of the line, but the moment it cuts off, the draft and the
   chill return. What to do?

Last winter (my first here), I cranked up the thermostat and would hand
my wallet over to the gas company once a month. This year would be
different. No more taking food off of my table just to protect myself
from the coldness of another Global Warming Winter.

(Editor's Note: He's ranting again. Hang in there, he'll get to the point
soon. Also, his house is rumored to be haunted. He may get around to
    mentioning that. I hope.)

My problem with the chill of dissent is that by keeping my money in my
pocket instead of BIGOILBUSHCO's.... it's too chilly in here to write.

Thankfully, I purchashed some oil filled space heaters the other day. So
now I am nice and warm. No draft, or chill, between the heater cycles.
I will note that no one from FEMA or even any level of goverment came
to my rescue. I HAD TO BUY THE HEATERS MYSELF!!!!!!

At least I didn't stir up the evil spirits who are rumored to "live" here.

But that's not something you'd be interested in. I've never witnessed
anything like that here anyway. Except for the time when I awoke to
the scary sounds of sharp claws inside the walls of my bedroom. Not
a good moment. Or the time when I had a Lady Friend over and she
had a bad feeling about one of the closets in the very room that I'm
writing this now.  Plus that broken grave marker that's in my side
yard from the 1800's. Nothing to see hear folks- move along.

Did I mention cats? I've got cats! AmeriCats! I'll even.....

(Editors Note: Sorry to keep barging in, but AmeriDan needs his rest.
He's still new enough to blogging that he feels the need to make
every point he can in one post. I know- it's a very rookie mistake.
But we have to let him do it. It will also be fun to watch. The only
reason I'm stepping in now is because he has two very serious post
coming up next week. So come back for the haunted house story,
and the update on the cats, and his ranting. Stick around and see
the other stories though. If you've read this far down, you'll have an
easy time of reading the two serious post.
